Lions Club Balingen
The Lions Club Balingen is one of approx. 45,000 clubs that get involved in charitable, social and cultural causes. True to its motto “Win and do good”, the club sells advent calendars, the proceeds from which are used to support lots of regional social projects with children and young people. On the one hand, the takings are benefiting the “Class 2000” project, which is successful prevention programme that supports children throughout their time at primary school. Furthermore, the asylum task force in the Zollernalbkreis, as well as other social and cultural projects in the region, receive financial support. This year, we sent the Lions Club Balingen a €1,450 donation. www.lionsclub-balingen.de. |

Women Shelter Zollernalbkreis e.V.
Violence behind closed doors happens more often than you think. May women who are affected by domestic violence in the South west have to be turned away by Women’s Shelters because of a lack of space. There has also been a Women’s Shelter in the Zollernalbkreis since 1982. 60 women and 67 children were given accommodation in the Women’s Shelter in the last year. Unfortunately, 95 women could not be accepted in 2015 due to a lack of space. Over two thirds of women came to the Women’s Shelter with their children. The often traumatising consequences of domestic violence can leave an indelible mark on a child’s development. Even if children and young people aren’t direct victims of acts of violence, they will often have to bear witness to how a parent is mistreated over a long period. This mostly leads to severe psychological strain. |
CHILDEMOTION E.V.
Bad Grönenbach Children’s Hospice St. Nikolaus Children’s hospice in Bad Grönenbach is a place for acclimatisation and relaxation for families of children with terminal and life-shortening illnesses. The whole family is supported here in every phase. Living and laughing - dying and mourning. This principle has been a part of the Children’s Hospice since the very beginning. At the same time, it describes what’s involved in the Hospice’s important work with children. Our donation of €3,000 is helping support guests, young and old, as holistically as possible on their often difficult journey, and helping to make the time that they have left as comfortable as possible.

World Vision Our sponsored child, Laem
Laem is 10 years old and lives with his parents and five brothers and sisters in the Rovieng Project in Cambodia. The family’s low income is often not even enough to provide the bare essentials. With €1,950 per year, we are supporting Laem on his journey towards a brighter future and a successful primary school education.
