Magnesium anodes, also referred to as sacrificial anode or protective anodes, reliably protect drinking water reservoirs from corrosion. This can be caused by imperfections in the enamel/coating, by installed parts and threaded connections. Thus buffer reservoirs in conjunction with untreated heating water can also be protected from corrosion.
The lifespan of an anode can vary significantly. An annual inspection is recommended. The used of signal anodes or “insulated installation” simplifies the annual inspection considerably. Replacement is necessary when the anode is 2/3-diminished or the protective current is less than 0.3 mA.
Anodes can be individually shortened!
