Metal pipes are used in various areas
Metal pipes can be used for various purposes in domestic installations, in industry or in mechanical engineering. The robust and durable pipes are available in different versions made from different materials. In addition, metal pipes are fully recyclable. Copper and various types of steel are widely accepted as materials for metal pipes.
Copper pipes are a classic in pipe installation.
- used in many ways in the installation of drinking water pipes, heating systems and many other applications
- various connection methods with suitable fittings (press or clamp fittings)
- available in various degrees of hardness
Stainless steel can also be used for metal pipes.
- corrosion-resistant
- loadable
- can be combined with suitable stainless steel fittings
- can be used in drinking water installations
- multiple additional usage options
Carbon steel is a cheaper alternative for metal piping.
- unalloyed quality steel
- used in heating circuits or cooling systems in dry environments
If pipes of different metals are combined within the pipe installation, the material compatibility should be checked in advance. The flow rule must also be considered. For example, within a drinking water installation the water should always flow from the less noble to the more noble material. Otherwise, corrosion may occur within the pipeline. Copper pipes can therefore be installed behind a galvanised steel pipe line, but not the other way round.
